Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ is sitting at his desk writing a paper ("Peace Note"). He looks up and speaks to a man (“Ho Chi Minh”) who is in front of him reading a sign ("Stop Bombing Peace Now!") held by a protestor standing behind LBJ. Caption: “It's Impolite to Read over Another's Shoulder!”. Artist signature lower right: "Newton Pratt”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at center right: “To the President -with sincere personal regards Newton Pratt”. Handwritten at lower right: “3/27/67”.
Historical NoteThe Antiwar Movement (1964-1973) emerged in response to the Vietnam War and included many activist groups such as the Students for a Democratic Society and the Yippies and used tactics such as mass demonstrations, sit-ins, teach-ins, and guerilla theater.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
