Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ tosses a large coin that lands with a side ("Win Policy") with an eagle face up. Caption: “Finally Tossed It!”. Artist signature lower left: "Sandeson”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten across the bottom: "To - President Johnson with best wishes - Bill Sandeson".
Historical NoteDuring his presidency, Johnson followed Harry Truman's doctrine of containment, which was intended to stop the spread of communism. Johnson’s foreign policy, especially in Vietnam, attracted both Democrat and Republican critics due to the loss of life, cost to the economy, and ineffectiveness of stopping the spread of Communism.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
