Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A man talks to another man as they walk on the shore ("NATO countries"). Across the ocean on jungle coastline ("South Viet"), a bandaged hand ("US") grabs the wrist of another hand (with a hammer and sickle symbol) holding a club ("Aggression") over Vietnam. Caption: “It Doesn't Concern Us!”. Artist signature lower right: "Brooks The Birmingham News”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower left: “-make 29 picas wide-”. Handwritten at lower right: “-Tuesday- March 8th 1966” “535”.
Historical NotePresident Johnson followed Harry Truman’s doctrine of containment, which meant that Communism needed to be contained within a country so that it doesn’t spread to other nations in the region. However, the United States' NATO allies did not get involved in the Vietnam War.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
