Physical DescriptionTie clasp made from a claw of a large-species cat; coated with gold on the inner curve and capped with gold on each end; mounted on an elongated open triangle with a chain guard attached.
Inscriptions and MarkingsIndistinct marking "13C[?]" on large end of claw.
Historical NoteThese cufflinks were given to President Johnson by His Excellency Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya via the State Department. President Johnson sent a congratulatory message the Prime Minister in 1963 on the occasion of the independence of Kenya.

Custodial History NoteThis item was a gift from a foreign official to President Lyndon B. Johnson during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
