Physical DescriptionCover cartoon from the January 21, 1891 Puck magazine. A man (identifiable as James G. Blaine) holds an olive branch (“To England”) to another man (“Lord Salisbury”) who also holds a branch (“To America”). They stand next to a building (“Behring Sea Fisheries”). On a shelf is a metal suit of armor and pants (“Jim’s Fighting Rig”) and an empty hook (“Bayard’s Common-Sense Diplomatic Suit”). Blaine says, “Let us have peace!”, and Lord Salisbury answers, “Yes, Mr. Blaine, with the aid of Mr. Bayard’s policy and Arbitration, I think we shall!”. Caption: "An Exchange of Olive Branches."
