Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ speaks to a woman ("Congress") who kneels before an oven and pulls out a smoking pan ("Riots"). A huge pot ("Castro Agitation") boils over on the stove top. Caption: “Maybe We Waited Too Long”. Artist signature lower right:: "L. D. Warren”.

Historical NoteDuring the Organization of Latin American Solidarity (OLAS) Conference in August 1967, Fidel Castro gave a speech denouncing, among others, the Venezuelan Communist Party, who he had a disagreement with.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
