Scripps-Howard Newspaper Alliance

The Scripps Company was a newspaper company founded in 1878. It was the first modern newspaper chain. In 1922, it was renamed Scripps-Howard for executive Roy W. Howard. It has renamed itself and reinvented itself numerous times over the years, eventually expanding its media holdings into broadcast stations throughout the country.
