Joseph P. Kennedy Sr.

Joseph P. Kennedy (1888-1969) was the father of President John F. Kennedy. During his career he was a banker, financier, and diplomat. From 1934 to 1937, he served as Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, and was the Chairman of the Maritime Commission in 1937. Kennedy served as Ambassador to Great Britain from 1938 to 1940.
