Clifford P. Case
United States, 1904 - 1982
Considered a liberal Republican, Case served in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, representing New Jersey, from 1945-1979. He was also an attorney. He voted in favor of several key pieces of civil rights legislation in the late 1950s and early 1960s, including the Voting Rights Act of 1965. He was also one of 13 Republicans in the Senate to vote for the landmark Medicare legislation.
