Curtis excelled as an editorial cartoonist for the Milwaukee Sentinel from 1969-1983. He was president of the American Association of Editorial Cartoonists 1977-78 and was a prolific author and artist. He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserve, posting many achievements and earning numerous medals.
