Eamon de Valera

Eamon de Valera was a dominant figure in Ireland in the 50 years following the country’s independence. He was a patriot and a politician who served as president of the country 1959-1973 and prime minister before that. He was an active revolutionary in his youth and also chancellor of the National University of Ireland in the 1920s.
