Franklin D. Roosevelt was the 32nd president of the United States. Roosevelt was the only president elected to the presidency four times, and within that time led the United States through the Great Depression and World War II. The Twenty-second Amendment to the United States Constitution was adopted in 1951 as a result of FDR's four terms as president, restricting all future presidents to two terms.
