A nut with the face of a man (identifiable as Charles de Gaulle) is held by a man (identifiable as Mao Tse-Tung) as LBJ and another man (identifiable as Ludwig Erhard) look on. Erhard holds a paper (“Deutsch-Franz Vertrag [German-French Treaty]”). A small piece of paper “19.II.64.(N)” adhered to lower right. Caption: "Es besteht die Gewißheit, daß jede Nuß den Gesetzen der Schwerkraft gehorchen muß [It Is a Certainty, That Every Nut Must Obey the Laws of Gravity]". Artist signature lower right: “Nico”.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
