Physical DescriptionPainted Nymphenburg white porcelain figure of a rearing horse held by a Moorish [sic] groom dressed in a pink coat, green breeches, and red boots. Base decorated with raised bunches of grapes, animal figures, and touches of gold.
Inscriptions and MarkingsStamped "Nymphenburg" on the bottom
Historical NoteThis porcelain figure was given to President Lyndon B. Johnson by His Excellency Dr. Ludwig Erhard, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany on June 4, 1965, during a private visit to Washington, D.C.

Custodial History NoteThis item was a gift from a foreign official to President Lyndon B. Johnson during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
