Physical DescriptionChased silver coffee pot with an elaborate raised woodland scene with plants, figures, and animals. Central panels stamped with a griffin on one side and crossed arrows on the other. Hinged lid and wood handle.
Historical NoteThis coffee pot was given to President Lyndon B. Johnson by His Excellency Eamon de Valera, President of Ireland, on May 28, 1964, during a state visit to Washington, D.C. A certificate of authenticity accompanying the gift states that the coffeepot was crafted in Dublin about 1764.

Custodial History NoteThis item was a gift from a foreign official to President Lyndon B. Johnson during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
