Physical DescriptionGold bracelet comprised of 8 rectangular links with cast openwork figures depicting folklife in Madagascar. With safety chain and clasp engraved: "Madagascar a Madame Johnson."
Historical NoteThis bracelet was given to Lady Bird Johnson by His Excellency Philibert Tsiranana, President of the Malagasy Republic (now Madagascar) during an official White House visit on July 27, 1964.

Custodial History NoteThis item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Lady Bird Johnson during the Johnson Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
