Physical Description
Physical DescriptionBracelet consisting of four curved panels of gold openwork aound stylized scenes from Mayan mythology. There are two layers of gold: the lower layer is reddish the rest is yellow gold; tension clasp with a post on the insert portion.
Historical NoteThis bracelet was given to Lady Bird Johnson by Mrs. Sara de la Hoy de Mendez Montenegro, wife of His Excellency Julio Cesar Mendez Montenegro, President of the Republic of Guatemala during the Johnson’s Central America trip in July, 1968.

Custodial History NoteThis item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Lady Bird Johnson during the Johnson Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
