Physical DescriptionDonkey head brooch. Flat cut-out vermeil donkey head. Details of the donkey engraved and/or in bas-relief. Hinged pin with safety catch. Stamped "JAC." Received Dec 31, 1963.
Historical NoteThis donkey head brooch was made and given to Lady Bird Johnson by a constituent. The donkey has long been the mascot for the Democratic party.
Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
