Physical DescriptionOpenwork gold starburst brooch, set with 56 small sapphires and a large central sapphire. A pin with safety clasp is attached on the back, as well as a loop for conversion into a pendant.
Historical NoteLady Bird Johnson received this sapphire brooch as part of a jewelry set in Thailand during the Johnsons’ trip through Asia in 1966.
Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
