Physical DescriptionEarrings. Hammered gold hoop-type earrings. The bottom of the hoop is thick and thins out near the top. There is a hole in each made as part of the construction process. Thin wire for pierced ear.
Historical NoteThese gold earrings were presented personally to Lady Bird Johnson by Miriam Eshkol, wife of His Excellency Levi Eshkol, Prime Minister of Israel during a head of state visit to the LBJ Ranch in Texas in January, 1968. These ancient earrings date back to the 2nd century A.D.

Custodial History NoteThis item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Lady Bird Johnson during the Johnson Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
