Physical DescriptionNecklace. Maltese cross pendant with peridot. Heavily oxidized silver decorated with twisted wire and granulation, with 4 smaller Maltese crosses between the arms. The loop attachment is ornamented with a small cross. Large bezel-set pale green stone appears to be a synthetic peridot. Chain is made of half-round wire formed into round links. Chain is likely rhodium-plated silver. Back of pendant is decorated. Center is stamped "Silver / [indistinguishable] / 1000."

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to the President, First Lady or member of the First Family during President Johnson's term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 20, 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
