Physical DescriptionLBJ Special Cancellation Postcard. The cachet on the envelope is a portrait of LBJ and the Presidential Seal. Cachet text: "The Great Society". Two stamps adhered at upper right: 3c "The Doctor" and 5c "Doctors Mayo" stamps. Postmarked at: Bethesda M.D. - Nov 16, 1966.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten across top: "V Adm George G. Burkley MC USN". Other indecipherable signatures throughout.
Historical NoteThis LBJ Great Society postcard was postmarked on November 16, 1966 from Bethesda, MD - the date and location of President Johnson's surgery to remove and non-cancerous polyp in his throat and correction of an abdominal hernia.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
