Physical DescriptionLacquered, footed wood box with multicolored mother-of-pearl & abalone inlay depicting opposing dragons and clouds on the lid, and dragons on sides.
Inscriptions and MarkingsInside of the lid, inlaid "Presented to His Excellency Lyndon B Johnson President of the United States of America" "Park Chung Hee President of the Republic of Korea Seoul" "October 31 1966".
Historical NoteThis box was given to President Lyndon B. Johnson by His Excellency Park Chung Hee, President of the Republic of Korea during the Manila Summit in the Philippines. The Manila Summit was a gathering of 7 nations united in determination to secure the freedom of South Vietnam.

Custodial History NoteThis item was a gift from a foreign official to President Lyndon B. Johnson during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
