Physical DescriptionMalachite box with hinged lid and edges and base trimmed with gold plate. Green velvet interior. Gold key with two faceted stones sits in lock.
Historical NoteThis box was given to President Lyndon B. Johnson by His Excellency Aleksey N. Kosygin, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on June 23, 1967, during the Glassboro Summit Conference in Glassboro, New Jersey.

Custodial History NoteThis item was a gift from a foreign official to President Lyndon B. Johnson during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
