Physical Description
Physical DescriptionModel in repousse' silver of the sailing ship "Caravella Iberica XVIII." Neptune is being pulled through water by horses on either side of the hull, a hinged rudder is fashioned as a dolphin, the masthead is a stylized bird, and 34 small figures are on the ship deck. There are four wheels on the bottom of the hull.
Historical NoteThis model ship was given to President Lyndon B. Johnson by His Excellency Antonio Segni, President of the Italian Republic on January 16, 1964, during a state visit to Washington, D.C.

Custodial History NoteThis item was a gift from a foreign official to President Lyndon B. Johnson during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
