Physical DescriptionSpace Stamp Commemorative Cancellation on German Consulate stationery. The cachet on the envelope is the Lunar Excursion Module and an astronaut on the moon's surface. Cachet text: "Apollo 11", "Man on the Moon 9.56P.M.". Two stamps adhered at upper right: 6c American Flag over the White House stamp and a 10c First Man on the Moon stamp. Postmarked at: Dallas TX - July 20, 1969. Addressed to: "President Lyndon B. Johnson", "Johnson Ranch", "Johnson City, Texas".
Historical NoteThis 10-cent Moon Landing stamp was issued on September 9, 1969. The stamp and the post mark celebrate man’s first landing on the moon on July 20, 1969. It was sent to President Johnson at the LBJ Ranch. The cachet on the envelope features a Lunar Excursion Module.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
