Physical DescriptionCane, black wood, horn handle ends in a 5-point gold star, short handle extension has a tear-shaped sherry topaz set in a gold and diamond mounting; cast gold collar at the base of the handle; stamped with 2 trademarks, "Chamet Paris".
Historical NoteThis jeweled black wood cane was given to President Lyndon B. Johnson by His Majesty Hassan II, King of Morocco on February 9, 1967, during a state visit to Washington, D.C.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to the President, First Lady or member of the First Family during President Johnson's term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives on January 20, 1969 for deposit with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum.
