Physical DescriptionCover cartoon of the April 6, 1892 Puck magazine. A man (“Hill”) walks uphill to a windmill (“National Dem. Convention at Chicago”). He carries a walking staff ("Peanut Politics"), and the bag on his shoulder ("Hill Boom") has a hole in it, leaking its contents. He walks away from a building (“Hill’s SNAP Convention”). Historical NoteNew York Senator David B. Hill, a long-time political rival of Grover Cleveland, competed together with with Iowa Governor Horace Boies against former President Cleveland for the 1892 Democratic Presidential nomination. Despite stiff opposition from his highly polarized home state of New York, Grover Cleveland went on to become the only US President to serve two non-consecutive terms in office.
