Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A young woman wearing a tiara ("Miss America") carries flowers ("L.B.J. Crusade for Beauty") walks down runway ("Highway Beautification Program"). Caption reads: "Here She Comes - - - Miss America". Artist signature lower right: "Kuekes 9-12-65".
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower right: "To: President Lyndon B. Johnson with best wishes Ed Kuekes".
Historical NoteThe Highway Beautification Act of 1965 was an effort led by Lady Bird Johnson to limit billboards and remove junk yards along highways. It was signed by Lyndon Johnson on October 22, 1965.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
