Historical NoteMr. William Winternitz sent a folder of caricatures titled, “How I See Them”, to President Johnson. In the folder were fifteen drawings of prominent people and politicians, as seen through the eyes of the artist – including this caricature of Charles de Gaulle of France.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
