Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ is dressed as a construction worker in overalls and hard hat and stands in front of a collapsed building ("Open Housing"), which an elephant ("G.O.P.") has just trampled. Caption: “Him Lyndon--Not Tarzan”. Artist signature lower right: "Brooks The Birmingham News”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower left: “-make 29 picas wide-”. Handwritten at lower right: “-Wednesday- Sept 21st 1966”.
Historical NoteThe Fair Housing Act was signed by Lyndon Johnson on April 11, 1968 that made housing discrimination on the basis of race, sex, religion, or national origin illegal.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
