Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ sits at his desk with a pile of papers in front of him. Men ("Schlesinger R.F.K., etc.") throw mud at the window behind him. The men's legs and arms are dark and their bodies are dabbled. Caption: “But Splashing Whom?”. Artist signature lower left: "Morris”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten across the bottom: [blue] "To President Johnson - John Milt Morris".
Historical NoteBecause of the Vietnam War, the Democratic Party became divided toward the end of President Johnson’s term. Many Democrats blamed Johnson for the war and criticized him for it while others supported Johnson’s policies. New York Senator Robert F. Kennedy and historian Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. opposed the Vietnam War.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
