Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. Eisenhower holds a paper ("Congressional Record”). He tips his hat while kicking a donkey ("84th Congress") in the snout. Caption: “Thanks for Your Cooperation”. Artist signature lower right: "Herblock © 1955 The Washington Post CA”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower left: "For Senator Lyndon Johnson with all the best regards from Herb Block".
Historical NoteThe 84th Congress took place January 3, 1955 to January 3, 1957 under President Eisenhower. During this congress, Lyndon Johnson was Senate Majority Leader and fellow Texas Democrat Sam Rayburn was the Speaker of the House. The Democrats had a majority in both the House and the Senate.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
