Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. Cowboy LBJ is holding a smoking gun aimed toward the boots of a fallen man ("Democratic Mavericks"). Both men are inside a corral ("86th Congress"). Another man ("Rayburn") leans on fence watching while holding a shovel. Caption reads: "Where Seldom Is Heard a Disparaging Word...". Artist signature lower right: "Lou Grant".
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten across bottom: "For Senator Johnson with admiration and best wishes - Lou Grant" "Oakland Tribune".
Historical NoteWhen this cartoon was made, Senator Lyndon Johnson was the Senate Majority Leader.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
