Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. Uncle Sam ("U.S.") points to a document ("Lyndon Johnson's 50-50 Offer to Cooperate with Ike") hanging on the wall. Artist signature lower right: "Hutton".
Historical NoteWhen this cartoon was made, Senator Lyndon Johnson was the Senate Majority Leader. For much of his presidency, Dwight Eisenhower had a Democratic majority congress and needed to cooperate with Democrats to get his legislation passed while Johnson needed to find common ground with the president.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
