Historical NoteWhen this cartoon was made, Senator Lyndon Johnson was the Senate Majority Leader. In this cartoon, the Democrat donkey is thin, referencig the party's slim majority in both houses. However, even a small majority grants the majority party advantages in running the chambers. "The Thin Man" could also refer to a successful 1934 film.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
