Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ and another man ("Sam Rayburn") are dressed as cowboys and holding saddles. They are moving toward two bucking horses ("The New Senate, The New House") in the background. Caption reads: "We'll Bet on the [sic]l [sic]nch Hand". Artist signature lower left: "Morris."
Historical NoteWhen this cartoon was created, Sam Rayburn was the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives and then Senator Lyndon Johnson was the Senate Majority Leader. Reigning in new Congressmen was a job both Texas politicians were good at.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
