Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. Ringmaster LBJ stands on a platform ("Texas Democratic Party Leadership") and holds a hoop for a donkey to jump through. LBJ has a feather ("Presidential Possibility") in his hat. A small bird wearing clothes stands on top of the hoop. Caption: “The New Ringmaster”. Additional text at lower left: “5-8-56”. Artist signature lower right: "Fred O. Seibel”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower left: "To Senator Lyndon B. Johnson with my best wishes, Fred O. Siebel".
Historical NoteWhen this cartoon was made, Senator Lyndon Johnson was the Senate Majority Leader.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
