A man in the middle of the tire says “You can say that again!” and “An’ soon it may go bust!”. A bulge (“inflationary bulge”) is in the lower right corner of the tire. A small piece of paper “2 Luwanna Circle St. Augustine, Fla. 32084” adhered to lower left. Caption: “Remember----?”. Additional text at lower right: “St. Augustine (Fla.) Record”. Artist signature lower left: "© 1966 John Duncan”.
Historical NoteWhen Lyndon B. Johnson signed the 1964 Revenue Act that decreased income taxes and refused to raise taxes, spending by consumers and businesses increased. Along with government spending, all of this increase of demand led to inflation.
