Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ bites a coin ("New Coinage Bill") and stars ("No Silver!") emit from his mouth. Caption reads: "Passing the Johnson Test". Artist signature lower right: "Karl Hubenthal L.A. Herald Examiner".
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower right: "For President Johnson, with high regard and admiration".
Historical NoteIn July 1965, Lyndon Johnson passed the Coinage Act, which removed silver content from new dimes and quarters and decreased the silver content in new half-dollars.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson personally, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1970.
