Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A man ("House of Rep") has leapt up to hit a giraffe ("Bill to Raise Debt Limit") over the head with a club. The giraffe's head is now on the ground. Caption: “Down, Boy!”. Artist signature lower left: "Warren King”.
Historical NoteIn 1967, Congress raised the debt ceiling from $285 billion to $358 billion, which would begin in the 1968 fiscal year.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
