Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. The smiling Statue of Liberty holds a torch up with a light bulb ("New Immigration Measure Eliminating National Origin") in place of the flame. Caption: “O, Say Can You See!”. Artist signature lower center: "Chas. Bissell”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower left: "For LBJ".
Historical NoteThe Immigration Act of 1965 abolished immigration quotas by country, prioritized relatives of US citizens, skilled workers, and permanent residents.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
