Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ sits with a woman (identifiable as Indira Gandhi) in his office surrounded by bundles ("Aid to India"). He gives her a sampler ("Eat in Peace"). Caption: “For Your Dining Room”. Artist signature lower right: "Sandeson”.
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten across the bottom: "To - President Johnson with the good will of - Bill Sandeson”.
Historical NoteIn March 1966, Lyndon Johnson met with Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and discussed economic development in India as well as sending aid after the Bihar famine of 1966-1967, which affected Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The famine was caused by a decrease in grain production and rise in grain prices.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
