Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. Dressed as farmers, Lady Bird Johnson and LBJ run across land ("Latin America"). LBJ sows seeds ("Good Will") from a bucket ("Alliance for Progress"). Lady Bird follows with trowel and hoe. Caption: “Springtime and Beautification”. Artist signature lower right: "Alexander.".

Historical NoteIn April 1967, Lyndon Johnson met with the heads of state in Latin America in Punta del Este, Uruguay, promising financial support to other nations in the Americas. In 1961, John F. Kennedy proposed the 10-year Alliance for Progress plan that would have brought economic development in Latin America without Communism.
