Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A man ("Sen. Fulbright"), dressed as a knight, sits on the White House lawn with broken lance, watching his horse running away. His lance point is caught in a large windmill ("LBJ Dominican Policy") turning on the nearby White House. Caption reads: "Charge of the Light Brigade". Artist signature lower right: "Crook © 1965, Newsday, Inc.".
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at lower left: "Mr. President you have withstood stronger attacks - Ken Crook".
Historical NoteIn April 1965, the Dominican Revolutionary Party installed a president in the National Palace. In response, President Johnson sent Marines to the Dominican Republic to evacuate American citizens from the country, end the civil war, and establish a conservative Reformist Party government. J. William Fulbright was the head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
