Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. With a broom ("Latin American Resolution Rebuff"), a man (“Senator Fulbright”) chases a bird with the head of LBJ as he flies (“Trip to Punta del Este”) to a building ("Inter-American Conference" in “Montevideo, Uruguay”) carrying a bag ("$ Foreign Aid Policy"). LBJ calls "Amigo!" to a man looking for "$". LBJ wears a hat (“Latin America”). Caption: “To Roost over Trade Grievance”. Artist signature lower right: "Shevchik”.
Historical NoteIn April 1967, Lyndon Johnson met with the heads of state in Latin America in Punta del Este, Uruguay, promising financial support to other nations in the Americas. Before this meeting, Congress and the president drafted a Latin Resolution, but J. William Fulbright opposed Johnson's plan and proposed his own.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
