Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ is a baseball pitcher speaking with another man (“Wilson”) on how to pitch with another team ("Arabs") who has a man (identifiable as Gamel Abdel Nasser) on a base. Wilson says, “Let’s make the next batter hit into a double play” “Back up third if there’s a bunt -” “What’s the new signal for, an inside fastball?” “Don’t let him get too big a lead” “How many outs?” “How about the pick-off play?” “What’s his record on stolen bases?” “Be sure to cover the plate in case of a wild pitch-”. Historical NoteThe end of the 1960s demonstrated changes in US-UK relations. The UK lost much of its imperial power, withdrawing all its troops east of Suez. The UK lost much of its influence in the world, including the Middle East, and the US maintained its status as a major world power.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon B Johnson Presidential Library in 1973.
