The men face off against a man in a black hat ("Communist Aggression"). In the background is a building named "Last Chance Saloon". Caption reads: "Posse". Artist signature lower left: "Goodwin".
Historical NotePresident Johnson followed Harry Truman’s doctrine of containment, which meant that Communism needed to be contained within a country so that it doesn’t spread to other nations in the region. As a result, the United States promised to provide aid to countries that might fall under Communist influence and expansion.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
