Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. A train ("Administration Program") with LBJ's face and rolled paper ("$") passengers speeds past a man ("Sen. Morse) who is pushed away by the air pressure. Morse holds two signs ("Get Out of Vietnam" "Stop Foreign Aid!") and small papers ("Where are we going? "Why?") litter the ground. Caption reads: "Through Train". Artist signature lower left: "Reg Manning [drawing of a cactus]". Additional text at lower right: "McNaught Syndicate, Inc.".
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten at upper right: "Clear the track for LBJ! Reg Manning [drawing of a cactus] 9-17-65". Handwritten and stamped across bottom: "3 col" "Aug 26 1965" "Mailing".
Historical NoteSenator Wayne Morse of Oregon was a Democratic senator that did not always vote along party lines. In 1964, he was only one of two senators that did not sign the Gulf of Tonkin resolution and he was a critic of the Johnson administration’s Vietnam policy.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
