Physical DescriptionOriginal cartoon drawing. LBJ and a man (identifiable as Alexei Kosygin) are seated. LBJ says, "As I was saying, he weighs 8 lbs. and 10 ounces, and is 21 inches tall already." Kosygin replies "Yes, but of course you know WE invented babies." Caption: “Conversation Continues”. Artist signature lower right: "Harold D. Maples".
Inscriptions and MarkingsHandwritten across bottom: "Regards to Lyndon B. Johnson, President of the United States”.
Historical NotePresident Johnson was a very doting grandfather when his first grandchild, Patrick Lyndon Nugent, was born. Love for his grandson even went to far as to ease the initial tensions at the Glassboro Summit with Soviet Premier Alexei Kosygin. Both were recent grandfathers and shared pictures of their grandchildren during the summit.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Johnson during his term in office. It was received by President Johnson, until the President donated it to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum in 1973.
